Summer ’17 Playlist

We’re now six months well into a quite mundane year, however it is safe to say that these records are the songs of the summer. Though this list may fluctuate as more artists release music, these songs will remain on the playlist. The year commenced on a very unexciting note. The initial records released were underwhelming and utterly generic. As we approach the summer, more artists are galvanizing us with their more thorough and precisely-orchestrated bops.

My current favourite is “Strangers‘ by Halsey featuring Fifth Harmony’s, Lauren Jauregui. On the record, Halsey and Lauren sing melodiously over a slowed instrumental about a queer encounter. A summer playlist wouldn’t be complete without Rihanna’s lead single, “Work“, from her acclaimed eighth studio album. This summer playlist includes the recent chart toppers and the songs we’ve somewhat been forced to enjoy, over time, due to being played on the radio.
